SINGER Jane McDonald and her family proved Yorkshire is best when they won a small “fortune” for Wakefield Hospice.

The Loose Women star won the Easter Sunday special of ITV’s All Star Family Fortunes and secured £10,000 for the Aberford Road hospice.

And not only did Jane and her family rack up a high score of 583 points on the popular game show, she left her opposition – The Only Way Is Essex star Mark Wright – with zero points.

On the game show, family members have to guess the top five answers of a question posed to the audience.

As the winning family, Jane had the opportunity to treble her money, but missed out.

The £10,000 will pay for the equivalent of 500 hours of specialist nursing care and takes Janes’ personal donations to the hospice to more than £40,000.

In February she raised more than £30,000 with a special home-coming gig at Theatre Royal Wakefield.

Helen Knowles, director of fundraising at Wakefield Hospice, said: “We are absolutely thrilled to bits.

“I already knew she was going on the show, but I had to keep it quiet.

“That means Jane has now raised more than £40,000 for the hospice over the past couple of months, which is incredible.

“We are now just waiting for a date for her to come up to the hospice and see some of the patients so we can personally thank her.

“We would just like to thank Jane and her family for choosing the hospice and for also helping raise our profile.”

During the show Jane got to show off her voice by singing James Bond theme tunes and host Vernon Kay showed an old clip of her performing on stage in Wakefield.
